Robusta Technology Group – Project Ocean

The Problem

Despite Egypt producing over 50,000 tech graduates annually, RTG faces significant challenges in finding and attracting skilled talent. Although having graduated, many Egyptian youth lack relevant and sufficient skills needed to succeed in the tech positions.  

Moreover, RTG has a limited reach to talent outside Cairo, thus excluding many potential youths from the application process. With most job opportunities taking place in Cairo, with no options for remote work, young people living outside greater Cairo would have to travel long distances just to access decent work. Commuting long distances is even harder for women, who due social norms and traditional duties are often unable to leave their homes for long. Consequently, there is a great gender imbalance in the Egyptian tech industry, with 80% of the market being dominated by men. 

The Solution

RTG’s Project Ocean addresses these challenges through three key strategies: 

1. Connect Talent with Opportunities

Ocean will establish tech hubs outside Greater Cairo and provide remote work options, thus unlocking access to a larger talent pool and increasing job opportunities for youth in remote areas. Especially women will be benefiting from this opportunity to combine work and home-life. Additionally, RTG will offer internships and traineeships for youth to develop essential skills needed to succeed in the job market.  

2. Position Egypt as a Global Tech Hub

Ocean will connect top employers with skilled talent, organize networking events and business growth summits, as well as support women in reaching leadership positions within the tech field. 

3. Foster a Supportive Work Environment

Through Ocean, RTG aims to improve jobs by implementing flexible working hours, expanding remote work opportunities, and focusing on creating quality, stable job opportunities.
